That night I discovered singer and songwriter Marc Berger who’s assembled a tight acoustic band to create a roots-rich concept album called “Ride,” which takes its inspiration from the American West. Though I had never heard these songs, I instantly liked them and the way Berger and his band presented them. I invite you to read more about “Ride” in this complete post at The Great Gray Bridge, with more pictures and two videos of the full band in performance:
http://philipsturner.com/2013/04/21/discovering-marc-bergers-album-ride/

My wife and I know Elisa Pritzker, artist and art curator, who assisted and staff in mounting and hanging the show. They’ve assembled over 150 album covers as examples of social activism from America’s civil rights struggle, the opposition to the Vietnam War, and the campaign to end apartheid, among many other historic milestones shown.

BLOG NEWS: NOW ON BLOG.BURNEDSHOES.COM

I moved the blog from (www.)burnedshoes.com to blog.burnedshoes.com - if you find broken links or experience any other problems in the future please let me know!

Search engines and other blogs will still try to send you too www.burnedshoes.com, so if you just change the “www” to “blog” you can also easily access a certain post through older external links.

The reason for changing the URL again shortly after setting up the custom URL: I will launch my personal website on burnedshoes.com very soon!

First I wanted to separate the blog and my company website - use different names for each - but now I have decided to also call my own business “Burnéd Shoés (Photography & Graphic Design)”.
This may sound a little too “disreputable” for some people, but you now what: I don’t give a s***. I know my qualities & skills and am not afraid that this decision will have an huge impact on my future. Maybe it also helps avoiding boring job offers, who knows…

So, I’ll present my own work on burnedshoes.com in the near future - I’ll keep you updated, but I guess launch date will be somewhere between April 18 and April 25) - stay tuned!

All the best, Burnéd

P. S.: That’s not even the whole news: I’m planning a big long-term photography project in the next months, and I could need YOUR help. Visit my blog in the next weeks for more information, I’m sure you’ll like the idea!

She’s an avid show-goer like me and Steve, so it will be fun bumping into her at live shows of Canadian artists, and perhaps at other live musical shows, such as the Brooklyn Folk Festival, which is the next music event I am excited about, April 19-21. It chronicles the only fatality ever caused by injury during a baseball game. Ray Chapman was a great Cleveland Indians shortstop who died after struck in the head by a pitch thrown by NY Yankee Carl Mays. The tragedy occurred in the same season that the Tribe would later win their first World Series, somehow overcoming the loss of Chapman, one of their best players. I’m glad that Cleveland Plain Dealer sports writer Bill Livingston,@LivyPD,chose to write about it last Sunday, the day before Opening Day. Livingston reports that a film based on the book, “Deadball,” may be in the works. The Pitch That Killed is still in print today, in an edition from Ivan R. Dee, independent publisher in Chicago. I’ve covered the book in greater length at my Wordpress blog The Great Gray Bridge: http://bit.ly/10nFBDG
